During this year of a presidential election, the national political scene is full of intense debate and opinion regarding our country's economic, social and defense policies.

These discussions remind us that we live in a diverse community where we all enjoy the freedom of expression.    It is a privilege for us to live in a country that encourages debate and differing opinions and we will assuredly see and hear a lot of that in our own community this year.

While our opinions vary greatly, we share many common goals.   

Living in a safe community and creating new and better opportunities for future generations are common goals that we can easily achieve by working together, as our motto at the Sheriff's Department was adopted in 2010, "Working Togethter to Make a Difference."  This is something we truly strive to do.  While we know we can't always reach everyone and make everyone happy, we do know that we can try our best to make a difference for many.

Daily, our community residents come together - despite political differences - to help each other in times of distress and need.  That is one of the things that makes this community so beautiful...the hearts of many people that truly care about their neighbors and friends.

It is my hope that 2012 will be a year when we all more often extend a helping hand to our neighbors, co-workers, family, friends and strangers in need.
